"What are you thinking about?"
Her words had barely reached his ears before his soft gray eyes turned toward her, staring curiously into her intense green eyes, Severus couldn't help but frown, not so much in thought, but more concentrating on her, staring at her curiously as though there was simply something about her that he didn't quite understand. Or perhaps that was only half the truth.
Still, Severus shrugged his shoulders, shaking the the thoughts from his head before bringing his gaze away from her only to stare back down at the Daily Prophet within his lap. He could only but bring himself to stare at the headlines of it for a matter of moments to read it for what seemed to be the fifth time already. 'Murder Kills Hundred of Muggles[/b]'
"He's at it again," Severus managed to announce through the curtain of his black hair. He knew she would know what he meant. The Dark Lord as some had called him. He'd been on a rampage as of late and it was all the Daily Prophet could seem to discuss.
"They'll get him though," Lily said softly. "They always do..."
Within the year of 1976, one could easily claim that so much had happened. And to say the least, this would have been an understatement to most. As the summer days ended and the beginning of yet another Hogwarts year dawned on the now sixth year Marauder's, the new announcement was that the Dark Lord had risen to power, starting his terrible attack on both the Muggle World and the Wizardry World. It's gotten so close to the point that several parents of students attending Hogwarts are becoming increasingly panicked.
As Hogwarts has claimed several times before, it's perhaps the safest school for any child to be. Yet, parents seem to be oblivious to this, as day by day that goes on more and more students are being pulled away from behind the safest of walls in the world. As it stands, at least a third of it's students have left unwillingly based on the reactions the parents are getting from reading the Daily Prophet and finding out just how much more damage the Dark Lord continues to do.
As it is, hidden within the walls of Hogwarts, unbeknown to the majority of the school are those faithful only to the Dark Lord. These are the ones that are helping to recruit fellow follows of the Dark Lord known only under the name of Death Eaters. They have started their own legion, hoping that there would be many more followers who would be willing to follow in the graceful steps of the Dark Lord.
Within the walls of Hogwarts though, it's business as usual though for the students and staff alike. Trying to keep all talk of the Dark Lord at bay, the staff are doing all in their power to keep the students occupied with what is most important to them at the present time. Their education. Hoping this would pacify the dangerous discussions of the Dark Lord and his followers, the school is doing all they can to lead a normal life.
For some fellow Hogwarts students, who despite their interest in the world outside of Hogwarts, have tried desperately to keep their interest in the Dark Lord and his followers to a minimum. The Marauders: James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Petteigrew are keeping things as normal as ever for them, by the means of causing their normal amount of trouble around the school, yet gaining a great deal of attention from doing such.
And for some like Lily Evans and Severus Snape, who for a while now have been in each others company more then usual - which has led to numerous rumors around Hogwarts - talk of the Dark Lord can't help but reach them. It's rather a topic that arone Severus has become increasingly interested in, and thus something that seems to be troubling Lily more and more as the days go on. Though given the choices between Severus and James, Lily seems now torn between the two, swaying somewhere in the middle. Only time will tell just who she will pick.[/size]
