With a flick of his wand he returned the tome he was reading and walked towards the main corridor. A few first years walked by, chatting away to stave of the nervousness of being in the library for the first time. Though he was not really listening, he managed to pick up the name of a few basic charms. "Your looking for a volume by Vrond Erleckson. It has a thick leather binding and letters written in silver. You can find it just down the second corridor. It's high up on the left, so you might want to get a librarian's help if you haven't mastered basic levitation spells yet". The apparent leader of the group, a rather sheepish looking blonde haired girl with green eyes that darted around the room, looked at him with a start. Her eyes tried to settle on his face, but she seemed to keep getting distracted by something at her feet. "I, er uh how did you know what I was looking for? Er nevermind, I mean thank you, for telling me. Well I mean, that is to say...". Gerard tried to look as non-threatening as possible while she rambled, he had certainly been in her shoes before. Mercifully a young man with tossled brown hair to her right cut her off gently, "We mean, uh, you didn't have to do that, we could have just asked the librarian. But thanks anyway..." "Gerard Augustine" Said Gerard, picking up the conversation "Just doing what I can to help, I was a first year to once you know, though slightly shorter but just as gangly". He pantomimed being a puppet on a string, which was just ridiculous enough to break the tension in the air and put a grin on everyone's face. "Well good luck, I have an appointment to make. And yes" He said, catching the eyes of the the sheepish girl that had rested on his hair "They are real, not a fashion statement". And with that he raised his arms, a ripple seemed to pass through his body as it began to shrink quickly. His dark hair seemed to spread over his body, still keeping the strands of gray his father's bloodline had gifted him with. His pupil's seemed to spread across his entire eye as his face elongated, the hair seemlessly becoming feathers as his feet elongated into talons. Before the transformation was complete, his arms thrust downward lifting his nearly avian form into the air. He seemed to almost be falling as his transformation completed. His form resembling a large crow with hints of gray amongst his onyx feathers. With another flap Gerard spiraled into the air and alighted towards the open window. The first years stared in wonder, their first time seeing an animagus. "Show off" Mumbled a nearby Hufflepuff with a roll of his eyes. Gerard let out a hurt caw before flying out the window and into the open air. "Its good to taste the wind again..." He thought, arcing out towards the Forbidden Forest. [/ul][/size][/font]
