Caleb knew something was going on when he felt her touch. It was a sense of electricity surging through him every time they touched. Was it just his imagination, a illusion he created himself to make it feel more real to him? Or was that feeling actually real? Was it that she was giving away her life and that’s why her heart monitor would skyrocket whenever she touched him? Caleb then couldn’t help but to search for the answers to these questions, which he sadly did not acquire. Sarah’s mother than turned to him and showed her sweet love to him as she tried to make him feel better about the whole incident, telling him that it wasn’t his fault for her condition, and to not dare to say sorry and all Caleb could do was doubt her words of it not being his fault. His gaze trailed to the ground as he said in his mind, ”It’s your fault, they just don’t want you feeling bad.” Caleb shook his head and the next thing he knew, her mother was hugging him and he returned that hug as well. They both pulled out of the hug and she touched his cheek reassuringly, telling him that Sarah was all she talked about, and was the person that brought her back to earth when she was up in space with the school work constantly bombarding her. He smiled at the statement for real, it wasn’t a huge smile, but at least it wasn’t a faked one. The thought of her made him smile, and all of their past memories, but it pained him to see that they may not make any new memories together.
Next, Sarah’s father spoke to him saying that he treated his daughter with love and respect and he was the factor that made her life sane and normal. She always had her nose in her books that she wouldn’t have been able to see anything beyond getting A’s. Caleb showed her what life was about, the fun that was within it, how you can live and feel free while still doing well in school. Caleb replied to Michael, ”Yes sir..She deserved entirely the best. I love her so much, and with every breath of life left in my being and I will fight for her until I die..” He cut it off there and his thoughts continued.. ”Or until she dies…whoever goes first.” Caleb hushed his thoughts as he looked back to the ground. It sometimes felt as if there was a demon whispering nothing but negativity into his mind. It felt so controlling and nauseating.
The parents then turned their attention amongst each other and the sons and daughters were still passed out. Caleb stood there as he looked at her body and tears welt in his eyes as he leaned against the post of the door and his mouth was parted open slightly as he saw Sarah’s hands fall around his waist and he exhaled deeply with a tear splashing to the ground. ”I need you.” He said quietly aloud. Caleb wished he could really feel her there, her warm, seductive touch that left him loving her even more because of the love that was within her every move. Her heart monitor then went racing once again and he felt that pulse through his body. There was something definitely leaving her every time she encountered a touch with a living being. And he turned around and looked in her eyes and she chewed on her lip before she answered him, a sign of deception. She said she didn’t feel anything, and there was a long pause. Caleb then answered her, ”You were good at everything Sarah, except for lying.” He gave a small smile before going serious once again and then noted to her, ”I’m not sure if you should keep touching me, passing life into me…I might be the death of you, you just can’t keep your beautiful hands off of me can you?” He smiled for real again, he seemed to be able to crack jokes and be a bit cheerful when he saw her. He tried only now, for her. For he knew it killed her to see him like this. Trust him, he didn’t like it either, not one bit.
Sarah was lying. She was passing life onto him and surely she was feeling something, but just wasn’t telling him. She didn’t want to see anymore pain within his eyes was probably her reason. It was a valid reason, but it didn’t help Caleb be able to help her. Suddenly, her heart monitor went off again, and Caleb figured it was just another false alarm until the nurse finally walked in to see what all of the racket was about and she looked at the monitors and stats and said aloud, ”Her heart rate is dropping! We need a doctor in here! We may have to shock her if she continues to drop!” A few more nurses and a doctor rushed in with a crash cart and Caleb became aware and gathered around the nurses that only nudged him back. He could hear the monitor go on flat.. She was gone…The doctors then attempted to revive her.
